Sweet Lake Review

Today, Parker and I went to Sweet Lake. It's a local restaurant here in Utah and we've heard rave reviews from friends and family, so we decided to give it a try!

Sweet Lake recently opened a new location in American Fork, Utah, so we went there because it is closer to us than the Salt Lake location.

In true Average Eater fashion here's my review: Thumbs Down.

There were quite a few reasons for my Thumbs Down Review:
1. It was pricier than I thought it would be and the food wasn't that great. Like it was good, but I got pancakes and they were $12. Seems a little steep to me.
2. Their limeade was... not good. It had a TON of pulp and tons of seeds from the raspberries. It needed a good straining before being served OR they needed to put on the menu that it had pulp and seeds because that was a huge turn off for me. Especially because their limeades are one of their signature items, I expected more.
3. It was a sit down restaurant with a wait staff. Now, don't get me wrong, I'm allllll for a sit down restaurant and wait staff, but nothing in their advertising made it seem like a sit down restaurant. It seemed more of like a Costa Vida vibe where you order your food, get your food and then seat yourself.
4. The portion sizes didn't fit the dishes. In contrast to the price issue, you DO get a sizable amount of food. (I just really don't think pancakes are worth $12) However, they served our meals on salad plates and it felt like we were spilling everywhere and not able to keep our food on our plates. Parker had a really hard time cutting his sandwich because the plate was so small.

What Sweet Lake Did Right:
Their wait staff was incredibly nice! They made sure to help us with our little one and got us seated right away. They were quick to bring us waters and brought us a cup with a lid and straw for our toddler.

Now for the Mom Review:
Sweet Lake was really accommodating for our little one. However, their high chairs are smaller than other restaurants we've been to with a toddler, so that was a little bit difficult. They did offer a drink cup with a straw and lid for her, so that was nice! We didn't order anything off of the kids' menu because their options were limited, so she just ate off our plates. She LOVED the pancakes and bacon.

The Bathrooms weren't hidden, per-say but they didn't have any signs to find them. And as a pregnant lady, bathrooms are one of the first things I look for.

Now, maybe these issues will be resolved as time goes on because this is a new location, however, we won't be returning because it just wasn't worth the experience to us.

Have you been to Sweet Lake? Did you enjoy your experience? Would you give it a Thumbs Up or Thumbs Down?
